Oil Seals: Replacement

The replacement of a shaft seal does not require special precautions, except for the following:

- If the system is to be analyzed, avoid deforming the gasket by operating with any casually available tools (screwdrivers, levers, etc.).The undamaged disassembled elements may in fact become the object of some very useful investigations, especially at a testing stage.
- Always use new gaskets, even if those disassembled may
still appear to be sound.
- Ensure that the new gaskets are positioned so that their sealing point does not coincide with the previous sliding area. For this purpose, it is for example possible to:
- Mount the new shaft seal in the seat at a different depth
than before
- Insert a spacer at the bottom of the seat
- Insert a sliding bushing overt the shaft and utilize a shaft seal with an internal diameter to fit the new size.
