Oil Seals: Storage
The perfect operation of the
shaft seals is also ensured by a
proper storage. It is
important that the gaskets always kept in their original packing,
stored in a cool, dry and clean place, protected from dust and direct
sunlight. It is
advisable to store them at a temperature between 15 and 25°C (59-77°F),
with a maximum moisture content of 50%. Avoid a proximity to sources
of heat and to electrical equipment; heat and ozone emissions may in
fact cause a premature decay of the rubber characteristics. Also
avoid excessively humid environments: they could set off
degenerative and/or corrosive phenomena of the components of the seals. In no case
the seals are to
be hung from lines or threads which
could press the sealing lip and damage it, nor be stacked
on the top of each other in such quantities as to deform
their geometry under their own weight.
